Boos for Bohannon...

If you are semi familiar with Iowa high school basketball; I'm sure that you have head of the Bohannon's. The Bohannon's have a long line of stud basketball players in their family. Theres Zach Bohannon who is a senior this year at Linn Mar High School in Marion, Iowa. He recently committed to Air force where he will play basketball next year. Then there is Jason Bohannon. You could say that he is a legend around the metro area. I was fortunate enough to be around for his Senior season. I was a Freshman at Jefferson, when he was a Senior. I head stories and read about his remarkable unreal stats in the newspaper. It was unbelievable reading night after night about him dropping 40 points on a regular basis like its no big deal.He was also named the Gatorade player of the year in Iowa. he was a three-time Iowa Newspaper Association All-State first team selection. He led Linn-Mar to a state championship as a sophomore in 2004, a runner-up finish in 2005, and a fourth place finish in 2006. He scored 1,700 points in his three year career, snapping a 33 year-old record. He averaged 27 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 3.8 assists in his senior campaign. He was a four star recruit coming out of High School with a bright future. Schools such as; Iowa, Wisconsin, UNI, Purdue, NC State, Stanford, and Vandy where recruiting him. It was a huge blow to the Hawkeyes program when he announced his commitment to Wisconsin. Everyone thought Iowa was a great fit for him. His dad was a quarterback there, and it was close to home. He ended up getting alot of playing time his Freshman year. I remember watching some of his games on ESPN. He never started, but he was always the first person of the bench. He is a Junior now. And he is a deciding factor whenever he is on the court. Recently in the Cedar Rapids Gazette there was a article written about his upcoming return to the metro area. The title was "Boos for Bohannon in Carver Getting Old." By Jim Ecker. I thought this was a fitting title for this article, and his return to Iowa City. Iowa fans are still bitter about him not coming to Iowa. You could say the felt betrayed. In the article Jim went on saying how Iowa fans should just SHUT UP! Its getting old. Yes it was clever his Freshman season to boo the kid whenever he touched the ball, or chant traitor, but you look stupid every time you so that and then he just ends up draining back to back three's! Whats the point of even heckling him when he has been quoted before saying, "My favorite place to play on the road is Carver." I think Iowa fans just need to get over there bitter ways. I don't know Jason personally, but what I've heard about him, he seems like a decent guy. I think you should be proud that he is from the metro area and he is doing so well at the next level.
