National Championship Preview

YES! It was officially bowl season! Best time of the year for us college football faithful:) Yes, there are other games that interested me, but I guess you can say I'm a kid in a candy store and I wanna get to the good stuff first! And that game would be the National Championship game. There is plenty of you could say, "drama" surrounding this game. Florida offensive coordinator Dan Mullen was hired as Mississippi State. His affability's is unknown for the National Championship game. He was the mastermind behind Tim Tebows greatness you could say. Oklahoma running back DeMarco Murray will have surgery to repair a hamstring injury and miss the BCS national championship game. I personally don't think that would be a big blow to their offense since Sam Bradford throws the ball about 80 times a game, or it just seems that way. Oh yeah and if you watch any sports programs at all I am sure you have heard the Mel Keiper Jr. and Tim Tebow interview; about his future as a NFL quarterback. http://insider.espn.go.com/proxy/proxy.dll/insider/espnradio/player?id=3770479&action=login&appRedirect=http%3a%2f%2finsider.espn.go.com%2fproxy%2fproxy.dll%2finsider%2fespnradio%2fplayer%3fid%3d3770479 here is the Interview. It gave me a good laugh. Long story short Mel Kiper Jr. went off saying how he doesn't believe that Tim Tebow will make it as an NFL QB. And of course Tebow went on to defend himself which he deserved to. Come on Mel I know you get paid for a living to do this kind of stuff but lets be real. Tim Tebow I think has more than proved his ability to make that transition. He Plays in I think the toughest conference in the Nation. After the one point loss to a Mississippi team he took that loss on his shoulders. He is a smart kid. He has the body type to make it in the NFL he has proven that he can do more than just run the ball, and when you need one yard on a 4th and one I am 100% positive he will get you that one yard. If I was A NFL GM why wouldn't I want him? He is a good kid, you don't have to worry about him in a NY nightclub having his gun go off and shooting himself in his leg. And hey Mel How do you have Matthew Stafford from Georgia who's team was probally the biggest bust of the season going number one on your mock draft? I don't get that?! Yeah, he is a decent QB but I can only see him being a back up QB for a playoff team nothing more. I see Tebow as a franchise QB. I do believe that, and not just because I am a Tebow fan. So as you can tell this game is nothing short of drama. You know when you're a little kid and you're so excited for Christmas morning? well you could say that this game has that effect on me! Call me lame I dont care. I might not even go to school on January 8th. All I know is you will find me on my couch by a fire watching the game :) Yes tis the season for bowl games!!!

STUPID HEISMAN

Last night was a really bummer for me. How do you win a Heisman when you dint even have the most first place votes? Tim Tebow had more first place votes then Sam Bradford. San still found a way to win. I guess its ok. Tebow won it last year as a sophomore as well. I am ok with it is because the Heisman curse. If you are a QB and win the the Heisman and are playing in the National Championship game you are destined too choke. Case in point look at the last OK. Qb to win it Jason White. He won the Heisman and then got dismantled in the National Championship game. This excites me since I am a Tebow supporter. Tim will preform the best and then everyone will see that he was the most deserving candidate.

One Day untill Heisman!

The countdown is down to one day! Who will win this prestigious award? The high flying super man Tim Tebow from Florida? The youngin from Oklahoma Sam Bradford? Or Colt McCoy from Texas? Last night Tebow won the Maxwell award last night for colleges best all around player. But then Sam Bradford won the award for best college football quarterback which makes me wonder who will win the heisman. Because Tebow won the best all around player and then Bradford won best QB so who wins the heisman? I guess its up in the air. Crossing my fingers for Tebow to repeat. He has too. He has all the stats he has the team around him i just hope that all the people with votes see that.......

FL VS. OK

This is the match up we have all been waiting to see. I am sure that one of the quarterbacks in this match up will win the Heisman. We all know about the Heisman curse. Hopefully this is not the case this year because, I am pulling for Tim Tebow and the Florida Gators. I want Tim Tebow to win the Heisman but, I don't want the curse of winning the Heisman to come along with it. In years past it is proven that if you win the Heisman and are playing in the National Championship game be prepared to SUCK! Case in point Troy Smith from Ohio State. 2 years ago he won the Heisman by a land slide. He then went on to play the Florida Gators in the National Championship game where he was allowed to under a 100 yards that game. And the Gators chomped up the Buckeyes. I think that this game will come down to defense, because the two offensives are so high powered. If i had to give an advantage to any team it would probably be the Gators because they have played a tougher schedule and have the better defense. I think that the gators also are a beter traveling team so they will also have that going for them.

Tebow.

Tim Tebow never fails to let me down. After his performance in the SEC Championship game he should win the Heisman hands down. Look at the team he had to go against compared to Sam Bradford. The Florida Gators had to beat the number one ranked team in the nation!! All Sam had to do was beat a mediocre Mizzu team. I personally am not a big fan of the Big 12. I think the quarterbacks are totally over rated. when you throw the ball 80 times a game, you should complete 70 percent of your passes. Tebow doesn't even come close to throwing over 40 passes a game because,he actually has a all around better team. He has better running backs than any of the Big 12 teams. Tebow can actually run the ball if has too. I think he is just a all around better player that Bradford. I am so PUMPED for the National Championship game. It looks like it will be Florida vs. Oklahoma. This is a star studded match up, of the offensives. I have a feeling one of the QBs in this game will win the Heisman. I personally think that Tebow is going to repeat. Tim Tebow deserves it. He has earned it and he deserves everything he wins, because hes a team player and he works hard.

SEC Championship game......Toss up?

http://secfootballblogger.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/12/custom-coaches-lg.jpg
The Sec championship game will be played in the Georgia dome. The two teams representing the conference will be national power houses Florida and Alabama. Who ever the winner is gets a automatic bid the the prestigious national championship game. Some people see this is a toss up game, but with two experienced qbs in former Heisman winner Tim Tebow and veteran QB John Parker Wilson it should be a showdown of the offenses. Whatever offenses is clicking the most is the team that will come out with the much need victory. This shall be a very emotional game for both sides. It just a shame that both teams have had such wonderful seasons and that one game is gonna make or break there season. I guess that is just life and you have to deal with it. I am pulling for Florida in this game because I am a big Tim Tebow supporter. I do not like Alabama. I don't like their coach Nick Saben. I just don't like how you presented himself during the whole Miami football fall out when he decided to make the transition from the NFL to College Football. One day he was telling the media that he was not going to leave the Miami Dolphins for a coaching job, then the next day he was announced as the next head coach of Crimson Tide. Who does that? I think its kind of a jerk move on his part. But whatever, its his deal. I guess he made a good decision because, he has a chance to win a National Championship; and the Dolphins are no where close to winning a championship after his departure. I dint know about anybody Else but i am greatly looking forward to this game. If Oklahoma can win the Big 12 Championship game they will play the winner of the SEC championship game and that's going to make for a good championship game.

College Football Coming to a End with Lots of Questions Still Unanswered

It's pretty bad when the president that was just elected even said that we need a college football play off. Are we ever gonna have one? I hope so because, sometimes it seems like the BSC only watches half the games! Whats going to happen at the end of the year when there is one deserving team that went un beaten and then there is a hand full of one loss teams? Whats the fair thing to do. I personally think that College football should just ditch the BCS system and go to a playoff system. A playoff system is the only way we will truly know who the best 2 teams in college football really is.

HAWKS PULL OF THE UNTHINKABLE

Fellow Hawkeye fans were do I start? Nobody gave Iowa a chance against big bad Penn State! It's pretty bad when my own science teacher said they have no chance! I always had faith in you Iowa, when people told me that they had not a chance against number 3 ranked Penn State I didn't say anything because I knew there was a chance for the unthinkable. Iowa was playing at home and they were looking for a signature win to cap their season off. They were out for blood having lost all their games by 12 points combined. They had nothing to lose and Penn State had everything to lose including the chance of playing in the National Championship! If you look back in my previce blog entries I did a post about how this game was going to be the game to watch and, how not to underestimate the Hawkeye’s. The game couldn't have started off better for the home team. Iowa won the coin flip, but then deferred and decided to kick off. Nobody understood this. But, I knew that Kirk pro bally had a reason for it. Penn States first play from scrimmage was a pass play. Iowa has one of the best defense in the nation and Saturdays game just proved it. First play Iowa's speedy and strong defense came with a blitz, and PSU qb Darrell Clark felt the pressure for sure. The first three plays from scrimmage he was on his back. There was alot of bad calls in this game for both sides. The first one came one the 3rd play of the game Darrell Clark was sacked and coughed up the ball it was supposedly recovered by the Hawkeye’s defense at the one yard line. The play then went into review by the booth upstairs. It was pretty obvious that it was a fumble, but the call was over turned. PSU was forced to punt from the Hawkeyes one yard line. The punt only went about 30 yards because of the howling wind. The Hawkeye’s had great field after the less then good punt. It took them two plays from scrimmage and a 14 yard touchdown but Iowa’s Heisman hopeful Shonne Greene. The rest of the half was dominated by Penn State; the scoreboard wouldn't have said so. Iowa's defense won the game for them. Penn State had the ball more then Iowa the whole game. There was three times in the first were PSU got in scoring position and could not come through. Iowa stoped PSU's RB 3 straight times at the goal line. even though they got 3 FGs off of those possessions I think it was a bigger victory for Iowa. When night started to fall in historic Kinnick Stadium I knew something special was going to happen. I don't know if it was all the green shirts I saw in the stands in honor of Shonne Greene or what but I felt it. I had never been so nervous. I was upset though all at the same time since I had tickets to the game but passed had to pass them up for other reasons. I found myself sitting by the fire with my parents watching the fourth quarter on the big screen. We were all nervous when there was 13 seconds left and they were down by 2 and both Iowa kickers were warming up and this game was on national TV and one of them tripped and fell while warming up!!!!!!!!! That gave everybody alot of confidence. Once again i did not understand Kirk's decision. He decided to put walk on kicker murray in from Iowa City. He was 1/3 on the season and he was the back up kicker!!! It got worse, when he went out there to line up for the kick the camera went on him, it looked like he was about to cry! But i guess who wouldn't want to cry in that situation?! He made the kick, and celebrated with a knee slide. Hawkeye’s stared to storm the field. One problem there was one second left! We of course got a penalty but that wouldn't matter!! Yes the Hawkeye’s did the unthinkable. I had faith in them the whole time when Hawkeye fans them self had not faith. Just one word of advice yes, celebrate this win but you guys cannot beast number 3 ranked PSU then come back next weekend and lose to Purdue.

College Football a Passion or Curse??

Every Saturday morning I find myself waking up at the same time 8:00 am. Some people might think hat I'm crazy others will understand, because they are up with me as well. passion or curse? That is the question of debate in this blog entry. Is College football a passion or curse? I have seen grown men cry over a simple game that they personally can not change the outcome of the game. I'll admit it as well i have shed some tears in the past over college football its just a passion that runs deep in my blood. Nobody understands my love for college football except my mom and dad. Everyone thinks that its so bizarre that every Saturday I wake up at 8:00am to watch College Football Live on ESPN. This is a program that previews all the big match ups of the day and major upset alerts. You can almost say that it is a appetizer before the actually games start. My bedroom is in the basement at my house, and every Saturday I probably come up stairs a total of 4 times between 8 and 3ish. I only come up for food or when a game is so unbearable to watch that i just get so frustrated. The only bad thing sometimes about watching games is when my team is playing I am not aloud to watch it with my mom because she says i get too worked up for her. This is were the debate of passion or curse comes about. Where do you draw the line as a fan? How much is too much. I think in college football you almost feel like you have a relationship with the players on the team so, it makes you feel closer to them so when they do not preform well it hurts you. Because you feel that you have a strong realtionship with them when they suffer you suffer. I don't think you get that from Professional sports, they just that they're a different species on this earth. I think when college football gets to the point were you can call it a passion you only feel like it's a curse when your team does not preform up to your standard. A true college fan will never revel that it is a curse. The people that call it a curse are the people that have to put up with our mood swings during a big game think its a curse. All us College football fans must stick together. Its the sport we love to hate :)

NUMBER ONE FALLS ONCE AGAIN!!!!!

It's no surprise that once again college football has a new number one ranked team. Last year, in the beginning of November is when it all started to get turned upside down, but these crazy antics have already been going on for sometime this year. I wouldn't be surprised if college football had 3 more different number ones by the time this season is over. If you are a college football powerhouse and you get the chance to sit at the top of the college football thrown this year before the national championship game, I wouldn't celebrate quiet yet. I would actually be a little worried. I would be happy with a number two ranking because when it comes down to the wire, no matter how messed up the BSC system is they're going to want number one and number two too by in the BSC national championship game. Last time i checked there wasn't a number two ranked curse, so all you number two ranked teams be happy! Don't complain saying oh we beat so and so, so make us number one! Give it a rest you are just setting your self up for failure. Nobody remembers who was ranked number one in week three, or four or even five!!! College football has a long season it goes from the last week in August to around New Years Eve. So all you die hard college football fans brace yourself because, we haven't even seen half of the crazy antics that are going to happen.

I am dedicating this burnt Orange color of my text for the latest number one team to fall and I will do this for the rest of the year to prove that number one teams come and go.

Iowa Football Update

The Iowa Hawkeyes are on a three game winning streak. This weekend they have a big road test in Illinois. If they win this they will have a very big advatage going into the biggest game of they year in Iowa City vs. Penn State. I personally think that Iowa has a LEGIT chance of pulling of this huge upset. Penn State gets there offensive power from their game. Thats where they get most of there points. Iowa is known for their great run defense. So this game is going to come down to who has the better passing offense. I'm very excited to watch this game. If Penn State wins this weekend which is most likely going to happen this game could be on primetime ABC tv which would be very excting seeing that the game is in Iowa City. Don't count Iowa out with their Heisman hopeful in Running Back Shonne Grenne. Im counting down the days untill kick off 8 days and counting :) If you have nothing to do on a Saturday night i would suggest watching the game, because this could be one of Iowa's recent greatest wins. I was at the Iowa Penn State game last year and it was UGLY! Everybody I went with were of course Penn State fans and they would not let it go that I was from Iowa. When I was walking throughout the campus, Penn State students would come up to me and say ohh are you a steelers fan? This kind of made me angry. But I guess there is some similarites but it just got annoying. Iowa is out for revenge though. So if you like good football this game should stay on your what too watch because, I think its going to be one everybodies upset radar.

Heisman Hopefuls

College football season is in full swing as of now. We have seen our fair share of upsets and nail biting games. As the winter months are ahead of us its time to start talking about the most prestige’s trophy in college football. The Heisman Trophy. When kids are little they dream about winning the Heisman some day, they practice their acceptance speech in front of the mirror, when they think nobody is watching. Last year the great Tim Tebow from the University of Florida won the trophy. He was well deserving of it. He worked hard, and he was just a all around good person. I think for someone to win the Heisman they should be more than just a good football player. They should get the grades, be a figure that kids in the community can look up to as a role model. Tim Tebow was all of those things. I am usually looking forward to the Heisman but this year I am just not that excited. Here are the Heisman hopefuls. http://www.sportsline.com/collegefootball/heisman

I personally think that Iowa's Shonne Greene is the Heisman dark horse. He has had the littlest to work with, but has done the most. I think if he can have a good game against Illinois and Penn State I'm sure you will be seeing him at the Heisman Presentation. This race shoudl good intresting. There has not been a guy that has really stood out to me week in and week out, but hopefully the next couple of weeks will change that.

As the Weather is changing so should your Shoes

In Iowa you experince the five seasons. Hate it or love it you have to deal with it. Being a person who loves shoes I try and embrace it as much as possible, beacuse it gives me the chance to mix up my shoe collection. For this time of year the UGG boot is a popular choice. UGGS have really evoled it the last year or so. It has went from just plan old brown and black boots to different patteren ones to sandels, and even slippers. I have a pair of UGG mocks and they're my favorite shoes. They go with everything and they fit well on my feet and they keep my feet very warm. There are also knock of UGGS that alot of people purchase. UGGS are not the only shoe that is very popular for the winter months. Mocks are very popular as well. They are very winter esc. Some pople aren't that big of a fan of them because, they say they remind them of pocahontas shoes, but I don't care. Then there your plain swade boots thats good for the winter, but you must make sure that you have them protected so slush and snow and what not don't ruin them. My biggest pet peeve is when people where flip flops is the winter!!!!! I love winter shoes so why shoulp people where summer shoes when its winter?!?!? Come one people we live in Iowa :((( hate it or love it you have to deal with it and accept it. So how can people be so stupid and wear flip flops when its freezing? As much as we wish we lived in flordia we don't! So if you are a shoe lover like me embrace the cold weather and use it as a chance to expand your schoe collection :)

Penn State

I guess I was wrong last weekend. I'm a big believer in the upset but, there was no upset in Happy Valley. I still do not believe that Penn State is a national championship team. Time will only tell. I can already see whats going to happen. There going to get the short end of the stick by a SEC team and where going to have to ear about how its so un fair and how the BCS system stinks.
http://www.bcsfootball.org/bcsfootball/

These are the current BCS rankings

YAY my first shoe post. College football has gave me so much to blog about, I haven't got the chance to do a shoe post. And since my blog is named Manolo Blanik I thought I would deticate my first post to that shoe. I first found out about these shoes from my favorite TV show Sex and the City. Of course these shoes are way out of my price range but it never hurts to look :)

Penn State National Title Run about to Go Up in Flames?

Number 3 ranked Penn State has a very big match up today in Happy Valley. On paper it doesn't appear to be that big of a match up, but every single Penn State player, coach, and fan knows that this is a make or break game. The last nine seasons the Nittney Lions have not been able to beat the Michigan Wolverines. I think that this season will be different though; Penn State is undefeated this season with impressive victories over an Oregon State team that upset previous number one ranked USC, A 40 point victory over Wisconsin at Wisconsin, and a convincing win over a decent Illinois team. I am still undecided on who will win this game. Penn State is favored by 24.5 points which makes it seem on paper that this game will be over before Michigan even arrives to Beaver Stadium. This is one of the games that im looking forward to the most today, on a day where there is going to be tons of great games to watch. Don't get me wrong I support the Big Ten but if Penn State can not win this game will the every be a national power house again? If they lose today there is no chance that they will contend for a National Championship. For a Big Ten school to make it to the BCS Championship they have to go undefeated. What looks better a one loss team from the SEC, PAC 10, or Big Ten? The Big 10 is down this year more than ever. Michigan who has always been a conference power house is in a rebuilding season with a new head coach. Ohio State, who already has one loss, and then Illinois who was suppose to be a sleeper team has already faded away but is expected to make a New Years Day Bowl. Even if Penn State makes it to the BCS Championship game I personally think it will be a blow out. Is good as some people think that Penn State is I don't think that they can compete with Texas, OU, Florida, USC, or Bama. I think a BSC Bowl is possible but no National Championship for Penn State.

The Legacy of Notre Dame Football in Jeopardy?

Notre Dame Football program could always be counted on to be a strong power house in college football. The last two years have been a different story. After the 2006 season they lost many key seniors on their defense and offense, including key member of the team, quarterback Brady Quinn. Who was up for the Hesiman Trophy his senior season. Everyone thought Notre Dame would have no trouble recruiting being the power house that they are. After Quinn left they landed the top quarterback recruit coming out of High School from Southern California. People speculated on how good he really was. The question came up many times; if he is that good why doesn't he just stay in Southern California and go to National power house USC? Jimmy Clausen was a very promising young athlete on paper. All the coaches where very impressed with his knowledge of the game, so they gave him a full ride to come to South Bend Indiana. Clausens Freshman season had more lows than highs. He was expected to come right out of high school and lead this storied program to a common 9 win season they have almost every year, while keeping up with the rigorous academic requirements. They had a pretty easy year ahead of them, but with losing the whole offense and defense they had a tough roads ahead trying to mix and match different people and mesh them together to for a solid football team. I remember that year very vividly. All the College Football Analysts didn’t give them a change, which they didn't have one really. They would always say that the only way they have a chance of winning is if the team actually didn’t show up to the stadium. That year they went 4-7 and failed to make a Bowl game in the first time in years!!!!!! This year is different. They year before freshman, now have a season under their belt and are out for revenge. They are 4-2 with the only 2 loses coming at the hands on now ranked opponents MSU and North Carolina. I personally think this team is hungrier than ever. This is this first time in 20 years that they are 4-2 and not nationally ranked. I expect to see many good things from this Notre Dame team as they evolve into mature true college athletes from timid High School athletes. I also could see them making a legit bowl this season. They just need to trust the coaches that they are surrounded by and keep working hard and in one or two seasons I can see them being at very high ranked.

Where did the Hawkeyes Go?

What happened to the Iowa Hawkeye’s? They had a promising season ahead of them. They had an easy start to their schedule. They started the season off 3-0!! And they have lost three games since to unranked opponents Pitt, Northwestern, and Michigan State. If they could've converted on forth and one they would've beast MSU. All they had to do was get one yard! Greene Iowa’s go to running back was then stopped at the line of scrimmage. I was too nervous to watch that play so I changed the channel. When I returned to ESPN 2 I knew it wasn’t good news when I see the MSU fans celebrating :( It is a sad week for Iowa Hawkeye football fans. We can still make it to a bowl game but it will probably be the Emerald City bowl or something not even that great. We still have some pretty tough tests a head though.
http://hawkeyesports.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/sched/iowa-m-footbl-sched.html

As a consirend hawkeye fan I hope they can figure it out fast including the QB conteversty which I think is just hurting the whole team. A team needs a leader not just a QB by commite! Kirk please just pick one!!!!!!!!!

collge football gets weirder

College football has always had its upsets every year, but this past week was weird. 4 of the top 5 teams in the nation lost! The biggest upset was number one ranked USC failling to unranked Oregon State. I had a bet on that a game. I picked that upset. Everybody thought i was crazy i got so much crap the whole week. Nobody though i had a clue about college football! Yeah right i guess they know now. It just make me mad that people think that i know nothing about college football because I'm a girl.http://blog.oregonlive.com/sportsupdates/2007/11/Oregon%20State%20gets%20a%20win.JPG
