fair well so long we will meet again

This blog has been amazing for me in ever single way. It is a source for me to let all my emotions out towrds a topic that is very dear to me sports. I think because of this blog my writing has improved, and i have enjoyed it alot more because i was able to write about things I enjoy like SPORTS! I will be going off to college next year and I plan on staying near and dear to my blog I am hoping that it will lead to better and bigger things!

Go DJ thats my DJ

DEREK JETER! Oh my where should I start with him? theres just too many thinks I could say about the Yankee Captin all good of course as well. He is still going strong in late May and i expect him to make yet another All Star Team like always. People always tell me that he is old and he's past his prime, but you know what i tell them that they're just jealous. I mean just look at him! If I was a guy I would be jealous. I have a feeling that he will lead this Yankee team to yet another AL East Crown like he has some many other years. I know for a fact that oncve he retires that he will be on the first ballot into Cooperstown and thats how it should be! His name has never been linked to steroids and will it never be. he is a humble guy, and a caring guy i know for a fact! When i was little he sat and talked with me for a good 15 mins... He didn't have to do that but he did. I would like to thank you Jeter for not only being a role model to kids but to being a role model for adults as well!

Sidney the great Crosby

The Pittsburgh Penguins are one win away from moving on in the Playoffs and it is because oh the captains Crosby and assistant captain Malkin. Crosby us my favorite player in the NHL besides being easy on the eyes he is a GREAT player! If you go to a game he will always give you your moneys worth. The pens are set. If Crosby is having a off day they have their assistnt captain to go to. Malkin is on fire. Last night against the Canes he has two goals and 2 assits. He was melroses number one star of the game :)The pens road to the Stanley Cup Finals is looking pretty good, and I'm really liking their odds to making it back for the second straight year!

College Softball

It is postseason time in college softball, and every game is exciting. It is super regional time and every game seems to be on ESPN. you have your surprises like the North Dakota Sates. No game is a sure win, and the Mizzu Tigers proved that last night taking game one of the three game series against UCLA. The best series wouldve has to be the AZ and Stanford series. Stanford won the first game. Then the say after that AZ came back and won both games. As I am blogging about this I am watching the Washington Gerogia Tech game. Wash is leading the series 1-0 and it is only the second inning but it looking like they will be going back to the College World Series. I am mist intregied with the UCLA series though. The Freshman Stud pitcher from MIZZU is actually from Iowa. I was actually playing in a trounament last fall that she was playing in. Its kind of cool to watch someone you played against last fall pitching on ESPN against UCLA.

I think its great how much coverage the Super Regionals and college world sereis get so much coverage.

Softball has got alot more intresting to watch as well. The pitching has been more dominating, and you have also seen alot more power with the hitters. Homeruns have went up 30 percent since last year. You see more and more people hitting homeruns.

Baseball at its Finest

Baseball is finally in full swing and I'm loving it! The Yankee's are not doing to hot...But i'll get over it. There are more positves then negitives I feel. A-rod is scheduled to be back this friday; Phil Hughes was called up from AAA ball and is doing extremely well, and Cano is as hot as ever. There have been some low points though for the Yankee's. Mark Texiera is in a major slump. Ching Ming Wang is terrible, so is CC. This is a major problem for the yankee's; seeing that these 2 pitchers where suppose to be there number one and number two pitchers. Oh well its still only early May. They Yankee's always have a rough first one or two months.

Kenny Mayne...The greatest?

Kenny Mayne was the reason I started watching Sportscenter daily. He is, and will always be my favorite sports anchor of all time. It just frusterates me that he does Horse racing now :( hes too good for that.

This proves that you should never take him seriously hahaha

haha only he would

Even talking about horse racing, hes hilrous.

Nick Swisher

Nick Swisher. What should I say about him? How about the biggest surprise in the Yankees line up? The Yankees acquired him from the White Sox's. Nick Swisher is already very popular in NY. He has already rung the bell to start the Stock exchange. Last night in Detroit he hit two home runs. One from the right side of the plate, and another one from the left side of the plate. I guess one could call him Mr. Switcher. I hope he stays as hot as he is in the beginning of the season. The Yankees need a bat like that in their line up. They're just struggling right now in every aspect. Not having A-rod in the line up is effecting them majorly. They just need to hold it together until he comes back. Phil Hughes was recently brought up and pitched 6 shutout innings. If he can hold it together, and Wang gets healthy; that would give Joba a chance to be moved back into the bullpen and that would make things finally come together, then when A-rod comes back that would just be icing on the cake :)

NFL DRAFT

Tis the season to be drafting! This weekend is the NFL draft, and I'm not going to lie I'm pretty pumped. This is like Christmas for all us football fans. There has been alot going on around the NFL lately and it comes no surprise to me. The Lions have the overall number one pick, and I'm interested to see what they're going to do with that. Of course they need alot of things, but they can go alot of different ways. The logic pick would be a QB which would most likely me Matthew Stafford. Some inside sources don't think that they will go that direction only for the fact that we're in a economic recession. Detroit has been hit the hardest and how is it going to look if they give this hot shot qb right out of college this multi million dollar contract? It is a proven fact that QB's get paid more, so they might have to go another direction with their number one pick.

Players stocks are falling left and right. The biggest one I can pin point is Florida's Percy Harvin. He recently tested positive for Marijuana at the NFL combine. He already had some dark shadows around him. Teams thought that he had character issues, and didn't want to draft him. As much as I love watching him play, he does kind of have a ego......I'm sure Tim Tebow is very disappointed in him. ha ha....

Sportscenter NOT Top Ten Plays

Sports Capital?

Awhile ago on Sportscenter, they did a segemnet on what city is the sports capital of the United States. One would think that this would be a tough task to deterime. You have so many great cities, with so many great teams. There could be so many different cities that could be deamined Sports Capital of the Untied States. When I look at it, it all depends on the time era. Youre not going to have the same city say in the 80's as the 90's. For example in the 80's you have the Los Angleos Laker, Dodgers, LA Kings ex.....In the 90's you have the Yankee's which at that time was considered the greastest dynasty in sports EVER, the Jets, Rangers. It could go either way. Now if you go to the 2000's it breaks my heart but it would have to be the Boston area :( oh well. They will fall of their high horse soon enough.

What a Joke

So if you don't know I am currently in golf. It has been a roller coaster to say the least. I Started off the season as the number 3 golfer. I was happy with this. I was still able to put up scores that counted to our team score. But after the first 2 meets I moved up to the number 2 golfer. I wasn't happy with this. I don't like being the number 2 golfer.. so one could say the first meet I was the number 2 golfer I choked. This season hasn't been to bad so far. It is just frustrating that one day I can put up a great score then the next day, if someone looks at my score card it looks like that was the first time Ive ever golfed in my life. We have a golf meet today at Ellis. And yesterday I shot a 46 which is a great improvement from the day before. I'm hoping that the confidence I got from yesterdays round carries into today! It should be a tough meet though. IC Regina, IC West are going to be there. IC West has already beat us this year, so we know its going to be a tough meet.

BUST

So far the Yankees 2009 season has been a bust. I am not surprised. No matter how good their team is suppose to be, they always have a crappy April. Luckly its almost over. A-rod is coming back soon as well that should provide some spark to this not so hot Yankee line up. AJ Burnnet has been the biggest surprsie for me personally. Everybody was telling me left and right that hes going to get hurt before his first Yankee start. I was blown away when he won his first start pitching 7 shutout innings. He was very impressing, and I am expecting good things from him this year. The Yankees have been a mess so far this season. If there pitching is good one game there bats are quiet. If the bats are making some noise, the pitching is brutal. Theres no happy medium, and its making me mad! I just want to see more W's in the win colum. I don't know why I am getting so worked up. The season is still young. No need to write them off quite yet.........

Somethings Never Change

Last night the Boston Red Sox's played the Angels. I am not fond of either team, but because of the Sox's being in the Yankee's division I have to cheer for the Angels. I didn't see the game but I heard about it. Former Yankee Bobby Abreu was up to bat Josh Becket was taking his sweet old time. This caused Abreu to get upset. I can totally understand why, because whenever I am up to bat and a pitcher is taking forever I call time just to erk them off. The umpire called time. This is what "supposably happened" Josh didn't see the umpire until half way through his motion and because he didn't want to "hurt" his arm he let go of the pitch and it sailed over Abreu's head. Abreu started what looked to be a heated conversation with Boston's catcher Jason V. Both benches cleared........ I think Josh did it unpurpose. He is known for pulling stuff like that before. And if anyone is going to get a suspension it should be him.

The New Sergio?

I didn't get a chance to watch the final round of the Masters yesterday, but I watched the highlights. Cabrera beat Kenny Perry on the second play off hole on Sunday. One might say that Perry crumbled under the presure, sending his aproach shot on the second play-off hole way left into the rough. Because of this shot all Cabrera had to do was 2 putt his way to victory.

One would think that this would be a huge blow to Perry's confidence. Is this a start of a firce rivarly between Perry and Cabrera? Is Cabrera the Tiger and Perry Sergio? If one is not familar with the golf. Tiget and Sergio have never really been fond of eachother... When ever Sergio is in the final round with a substanial lead, but knows Tiger is learking, he always seems to crumble. We will have to see in the up coming weeks though.

Tiger comes up short. He still shot -8 for the week.

MASTERS

Even if one is not familiar with golf I'm sure they know about the green jacket. The Masters is the biggest golf tournament of the year. The Masters is in Augusta Geroriga. It always brings drama no matter if its the first day of play, or the final round.

Tiger is in the field after a year layoff from major knee surgery. He won the Aronald Palmer Invitational last weekend so one could say he is back up to par. No matter what tournament he is playing in hurt or healthy he is always going to be in contention.

I am the type of person that likes to see the underdog in golf to win. Don't get me wrong I love watching Tiger playing when he is on. But its sometimes frustrating when he is 10 shots back and they still show every shot he takes. I remember 2 years ago; Zach Johnson was in the lead by 2 shots and instead of putting the camera on the eventual Masters Champion, we just saw Tiger. No matter where Tiger is in the field they always say hes got a chance.

Predictions:
Final group
Tiger Woods
Zach Johnson
Sergio Garcia

* maybe I'm favoriting Zach, but he did win 2 years ago :)

Opening Day!

Spring training is whinding down. All the players are getting ready to leave spring training to head back to their assigned cities. This year especially excites be; the Yankees are pick as a preseason World Sereies opponent. The Yankees have a lot of pressure on them this season. As usual they have went out, and spent the big bucks to get the best free agent pitchers. It was GREAT! IF they fail to win a World Series they will most likely be labeled the worlds biggest bust of Major League baseball history. I do believe though that this is the year. WOW! I feel like I am a Cubs fan. That is their saying "this is the year!" It souldnt be a team that has won 26 World Sereis saying! I'm still trying to get my mom to let me skip school on April 5th so I can stay home and watch all the opening day games!

APRIL 5 :)

April 5th could not come soon enough! April 5th is opening day for Major League Baseball!! I need to get a jump start on drafting for my fantasy team. Following baseball is my bread and buter, so be prepared to get post after post about baseball, and my fellow Yankees. Hopefully we will have a better season though....

Politics+Sports= Bad Idea

I watch Sportscenter every morning religiously. Never missing an episode I consider myself a very loyal follwer. So during March Madness I expect to see alot of coverage over it on Sportscenter. The day after the brackets came out, they did a segment with the President. Espn personally designed a larger than life bracket for him. He filled it our right in front of America. He was asked to explain his picks. So every day that there has been games on ESPN always fills us in how he is doing. It gets so Annoying sometimes. It's like who really cares? I don't! And it's just embarrassing, because he is not even at the 50% tile, and basketball was supposed to be his "thing." Politics and sports should just not mix. There should be a fine line drawn between them. And every time something big happens in sports, reporters always ask the President to comment, and you always hear his comment on Sportscenter or see it on the ticker. Please just give it a rest.

Bracket Busters

With the last day of the sweet sixteen match-ups your bracket has either been made or BUSTED. This year I personally think that the brackets where overated. You might just think that I am saying this because one might think that my bracket was bsuted by the Cleveland State's or the Sienna's. Well you are wrong. At track practice I got into a very heated argument with a fellow boy in track. He made it abundently clear that I don't know what I'm doing, and the only reason why I picked those upsets is because I either A.) got lucky. Or B.) just like the way the name sounded. This set me off!? going back to one of my very first blog posts, I get sick and tired of male's giving me crap because I am a girl. They don't think i know squat because of this. I am sorry if I make some guys inscure knowing more about sports then them. My bracket is shapping up very nicely. Yes I did have Memphis going farther, but I am still ahead in the game with the upsets I picked.

Day of the Dance

Less than five hours untill the forst game, and I find myself sitting in zero hour Ap lang filling out my bracket. I don't know why it took me so long. I just kept putting it off. This years trouney just didnt have my intrest. I'm hopping there are at least some big upsets this year. Last year there wasnt really any. Wouldn't it be funny if the 4 number 16 seeds made it to the final four. If that happend I could die happy. My final four predictions are Lousiville, Memphis, Unc, Villinova. I have UNC winning 74-70. I think UNC will make it through easily, but only if they have gaurd Ty Lawson. He needs to be back for the second round, because LSU has the athletisism to beat them without him. This morning on sportscenter he made a statement say that it doesnt hurt running back and foward. The only time he feels pain is when he cuts. Ty Lawson is a very energetic player. When hes on the court hes always all over it. Cutting is a big part of his game and he needs to be able to do that. I hope my bracket isnt a complete bust, I sometimes tend to talk alot of smack about my bracket especially with my neighbor, who thinks he knows everything about college basketball, but he doesnt.

The Big Dance

It is time to go dancing for 64 college basketball teams. Some I must say shouldn't be dancing, but that is besides the point. Last night the Men's NCAA D1 college basketball brackets where reveled. You could say there was some surprises. Like 10 seeded Arizona, and personally for me the Wisconsin Badgers. Don't get me wrong I am glad that they made it, but I think Penn State deserved a bid over them. I was very surprised with the showing the Big 10 had. All year everyone just bashed the Big 10. I am not as excited tho about the dance this year. I still have yet to fill out my bracket; which is usually done with in the first hour it was realised. I just think it will be a boring tourney this year. I don't know if I see any big upsets happening. As I scan through the bracket I can't put my finger on any George Mason teams, and since college basketball isn't really my favorite to watch; without the George Mason's of the tourney the appeal factor is way down this year for me. I am thinking about just randoming filling out my bracket. I wont stoop so low where I go with what name I like better, like some females do that I know.

The Evil Empire

Why are the Yankees labeled the bad guys year after year. Even though they havent won a championship since 2000. When they win I can see why they are labeled the "evil empire" The Yankees front office knows what it feels like to be on top and they like that feeling, and they'll do whatever it takes to get back there. Even if that means spending unruley amounts of money. They're not trying to make friends. They're getting paid that much money to win championships; and the boss expects nothing less. I guess the name is kind of humerous seeing where it came from. The name first came about when the Yankees where in there prime years, and the Red Sox's where always living in the shadows of them. The Red Sox's where just jealous that they didnt have the savvy educated tough front office like the Yankees had. Even though the Red Sox's have won 2 World Series since the Yankees have won one. Whos counting? I mean its still....

Yankess:26
Red Sox's:4

You got a long way to go Boston

Whats Going On?

Here's a quick look at whats going around sports....

NCAA BASKETBALL:
If you are a college basketball fanatic this is most likely your favorite time of the year! Yes, it is March, which means March Madness :) Make sure your pencils have good erasers, or just maybe print out a couple extra brackets. I know it usually takes me a good 5 brackets until i find my prefect one.

NFL:
TJ Houshmandzadeh is heading west. Everybody already knew he was out of Cincinnati. But really Seattle? I think he will fit in with the whole West Coast offense. He is a threat when he is on the Field. I feel that in Cincinnati he was just always over looked having to share the ball with Ocho Cinco and his true potential was never shown. Another shocker to me was the news of Matt Casel being traded to the Chiefs. Yes, that is good for him, but I think that was a stupid move by the Patriots front office. I don't completely understand that move. This off season they where in the talks of giving him the franchise tag even as a backup quarterback. I know that Tom Brady will be back healthy; but they never know? Coming back from a knee injury can be a very tricky thing. I'm sure that nobody in the Patriots front office thought Brady would have a season ending injury the first game of the season. I think they let Matt get away and that's too bad. I could care less though,
because I hate every team from the Massachusetts area. And oh yeah they draft is upon us as well :))

MLB:
The WBC is starting up. You could say that this is good for all us baseball fans since they televise this. Its like the equivalent to baseball preseason.

I will spare everyone of the A-rod talk because we have already heard enough of that.

ESPN.com recently broke the news that Orlando Cabrera is headed to the Oakland A's. This doesn't surprise me since Bobby Crosby wanted out, and it appears that he is on his way out. 34 year old Cabrera brings power and speed to the top of the A's lineup. The only down fall to replacing him with Crosby is the whole age factor. Who knows maybe 35 is the new 25 in major league baseball.

This news made me smile. Ken Griffey Jr. is going back to where it all started for him. He will be returning to Seattle. I've always enjoyed watching Griffey. Even though he is 39 he still got a decent deal with incentives. I don't know if he will be there a long time since the contract is only a one year deal, but I wish him the best. If he stays healthy enough to get some time in the outfield it will be fun watching him and Ichro patrolling the outfield together.

I guess I should bring up Manny. The Dodgers and him have still not put together a contract yet. He is hoping that the WBC helps him out. I don't know why I find myself returning to Rob Neyer's blog everyday it's just painful to read. I guess you can say its like a car crash, you don't wanna look, but you got to. His most recent post was about Manny's contract situation. He states " I do like to see players get what they're "worth," and $45 million is the very upper limit of what Manny Ramirez is worth, by almost any objective measure." Like that song Hot and Cold. Manny is NOT worth that much. Yes he could hit like .800 one month but the next month he can be like oh I don't feel like playing. That is Manny for you. How do you think he got that saying that's Manny being Manny? Manny is baseball's version of Chad Johnson. Only I think Ocho Cinco is good for football. I would agree with him saying Manny deserves that much but only if he becomes less selfish, gets his butt down to spring training, and acts like a team player, and most important plays daily.

Opening day is just around the corner literally. April 5th to be exact. I might have to skip school to watch the festivities!!!! But just my luck like every opening day A-rod will go 0-5 3 strikouts and 2 booted balls. oh well...that will just be proof to Rob that Derek Jeter is where he belongs.

Just thought i would leave you this :) by far best theme song next to sportscenter. Get ready for those Web Gems!!!!!

Rob Neyer My New BFF.....NOT

Rob

Rob Neyer where do I start..for those who are not familiar with him, he writes a blog for ESPN.com and actually gets paid for his crazy ideas that he states in his blog. He recently did a post about Derek Jeters contract situation. In his post he refers to it as D(Derek)-Day (the day his contract is up) Derek Jeter's contract is through the 2010 season. Being the faithful Yankee fan that I am, I have faith that the Yankee front office will create a very generous new deal for the Yankee Captain. He at least deserves that. The comments that upset me the most though in this post was this Rob Neyer guy saying that Jeter is either going to have to take a pay cut, switch positions, or gulp move on!!! Ok, so if you look at this Rob guys picture he looks like one of those guys that have never played sports in his life and was just always the outcast. I don't get where ESPN finds these guys. If they are in need of qualified blogers about a certain topic that bad I will seriously just drop out of school and that will be my new full time job. This guy is nuts! First of all why would he need to take a pay cut when alot of people don't realize this but the Yankee's pay roll is 20 million dollars lower than last year, by just getting rid of Bobby Abreu, and some other not so important guys. Second of all why should the "Yankee Captain" have to switch positions when hes been there for 10 years and has proved year in and year out that he should be there? And last off why should he have to move on? Derek Jeter will always be in pinstripes. He will die as a Yankee. The Yankee's front office couldn't even deal with seeing DJ in anything else but pinstripes. So Rob please spare us all. I don't know if you are a Red Sox's fan or what, but not one thing you said that will happen is gonna.

Why I Blog?

I have to admit I was first very skeptcal about the whole bloging thing when Mr. Ayers first introduced it. I had a good idea what it was. I have read quite a few of blogs before my bloging days even started. The blogs ranged from blogs on http://espn.go.com/ or just celberity gossip blogs....I have relazied though that i really enjoy bloging. I am a person that when I have a opinion I don't keep it to myself, and when it comes to sports I have numerous about of opinions, and some other peoples opinions really bug me. So you could say my blog is an outlit for me since my blog is strickly about sports. Say I hear something on sportscenter or read something that I dont agree with or bugs me I always have my blog. Alot of people engage in sports agruments and the people you usually get into them with dont see the same way you do on a topic. So because of that i have my blog. My blog will never call me stupid or say my teams suck.. Having my blog here is almost a sense of comfurate.

All's Fair in Love and Steroids

theory. The Mitchell Report is a 409 page report constructed by former Senator George Mitchell. He now is a director for the Boston Red Sox's and the Law firm that put this report together is in Boston....mmmmmm weird but it gets weirder. I am reading the book Juiced by Jose Canseco and as painful as his writing is when he talks about steroid use in the game I do take him serious he is the "godfather of steroids" and when he makes it clear that at least 5-10 players in each club house is on some type of steroids, how can I take this George Mitchell guy serious when all these big name players so far that have been made public on this report have never had legit careers or are with the Red Sox's as of now? Mitchel was quoted asking " Selig to show restraint and not penalize the current players who's names are mentioned in the report!" ARE YOU SERIOUS?! This is what gets me ticked of. Because, this is my blog I can state a basis opinion all i want. But seriously, why did he even create this report if he didn't even want these dishonest players to be penalized? Example Roger Clemens. yes, he did play with the Red Sox's but if you look at his numbers with the Sox's compared to his numbers he put up with the Yankees its obvious that he did more good with the Yankees then with the Sox's and Mitchell being the avid Sox's fan could be bitter towards Roger. Why is his name singled out 82 times in this report and why is he the subject of nearly 9 pages? Don;t you think that those nine pages should be added to the already numerous amount of pages baseball all time leader for home runs Barry Bonds has? Correct me if I'm wrong but why is it that all the players names that have been leaked have had either decent careers or legit career with the Yankees. Roger, Sheffield, A-rod, Giambi......Weird I don't know if I'm just to passionate or going crazy but I think somebody needs to call this George Mitchell guy out. I am also a firm believer that sports and politics should not be mixed because it creates for a deadly combination.

"The Mitchell Report"

How seriously can one take the "The Mitchell Report" I don't know if i can to be completely honest? I know that a good portion of it is true, but I believe that some very important and relevant names are being left off of it......How fair is that? Yes just a couple of the 104 names have been made public and after A-rod was thrown under the the bus the last week I'm sure there are alot of nervous baseball players getting ready to report to Spring Training. When you take a step back and look at baseball its pretty obvious who's juicing and who's not. I mean come on if you're a scrawny middle infielder one season that hits 15 homeruns and then hit 35+ the next season theres going to be some speculation around you. My biggest problem is that this George Mitchell guy that put this together is from Boston and I dont know if me making this correlation is just going to make me sound even more crazy but you know that him being a Boston fan such names as Schilling, Big Papi, Varitek, and even though he is not with the Red Sox's any more Manny. The Red Sox's just make me sick and they need to be put in their place. Every time I hear about the "sock" I'm referring to Curt Schillings bloody sock from the game 7 from the ACLS..Everyone is saying how tough he is and such a team player pitching through such pain and how that sock needs to be on a first class flight to Cooperstown..All i can say is BS! TEST THE SOCK. Then theres David Ortiz, look at his stats when he was with the Twins. Why do you think they traded him? He sucked with them! You could say he was little papi! How do you go from hitting 10 Hrs a season with the Twins with just as many at bats to hitting 40+ with the Red Sox's? mmmmmm that's odd? Don't believe me here http://www.baseball-reference.com/o/ortizda01.shtml. This post isn't suppose to be biased or anything. Yes i do hate Boston with a passion but i just don't think its fair this Mitchell Report why are only a couple names coming out and they happen to be Yankees? I just think all 104 names should be made public. I will stand by my opinion that every baseball player should be tested weekly and all results should be made public that's the only way to nip this in the butt. Or we go about it like Colin Cowherd said on his radio program the Herd. He thinks that they should just let everyone take steroids and see where that puts baseball. He says that it would make it more interesting have at least 10 hrs every game. To some extent i agree with him. I just don't know what to believe anymore. You can say it kind of broke my heart a little and let me down when i found out a-rod took them in 2003 I don't believe that he is anymore but i kind of feel like all the swimmers out there that looked up to Micheal Phelps. Whats next Derek Jeter testing positive? I just hurt the most about A-rod because i always have defended him.

NEW YORK NEW YORK!

So with spring training around the corner i cant help but to get excited for baseball :) I am especially excited for this season after the free agents the Yankees have signed this off season. They acquired AJ Burnett, Mark Teixeria and CC Sabathia. You can argue that CC has been one of the most dominating pitchers in baseball the last couple of years and if AJ stays healthy which i believe he can he will be an important part in the rotation. The comment has been made that Burnett will get hurt like always because he already got his money. I think the Yankees have made a statement in the AL East. They have the veteran leadership and they got the young talent. Look at their potential line up!

Damon
Jeter
A-rod
Teixeria
Canon
Matsui
Poseda

over 3/4s of those players could be batting clean up on any other team! If they serious don't score at least 7 runs a game this team should be labeled the biggest bust in major league history!
Texeria just needs to start off hot so he feels comfortable in NY because if he starts of slumping the NY media is going to be all over him......and if you are just coming to NY you need to have a happy marriage with the NY media if NY is a place where you want to build your career around. Look at Jeter hes never really had a problem with the media and theres never been any rumors about him leaving NY. If you're a great player you don't even have to be a great player but a mediocre player that comes through when you have to in the clutch and have tough skin NY is the place for you. For example look at the Yankees teams from the 90's they never had a bunch of studs on the world series teams yes they had a couple superstars but they never had the A-rods or anything. They had the Paul O'neals and the Scott Borasis..I think that's what NY needs to remember yes its nice to have a line up with every guy at any at bat could hit one out, but they need chemistry and this year i think they realize that. I believe that the Yankees front office has put together a team with a bunch of guys that can play but that will also get along with each other. There just can't be any animosity between Jeter and A-rod this year. I never know if i believe that there is but the NY media always starts stuff like there is. Jeter is all about business and he always makes that clear. Jeter has always been a superstar a pioneer for the game you could say. A-rod on the other hand is a celebrity. That's not necessarily a bad thing but he needs to keep that on the down low during the season...The team doesn't need any distractions such as Madonna rumors flying around. If he wants the media off his back for once he needs to live a quiet life during the season. If he can hit .350 the whole season no bad months and put up a golden glove season at third i could care less what he does but that hasn't been the case yet since hes been at NY. I've never believed that one person can be a team, like the saying theres no I in team but this team will live and die on the season A-rod has so please don't screw it up or you wont be A-rod anymore. You will be A-Fraud for good and your days in NY will be limited.

bahahahahhaha

So during first hour I had nothing to do since I don't have class and I didn't have any homework to do so i was on ESPN.com and i came across this article. It caught my attention alright....For everybody's sake and also mine so i don't get in trouble I'm going to try and be nice about it. This writer is probably the most IGNORANT person on this plant. I am not over exaggerating either. He tried making his case that Derek Jeter should be moved to center field....I have many problems with this article. It said if he is a true Yankee captain that he would see that there is a need for a good centerfeilder and he should make the transition and then A-rod can move over to short! BAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Is this guy serious? Derek Jeter is one of the most established shortstops in the league and he will be for many years. Why would he move to center? They have Damon his holding it down just fine. This just has me erked beyond belief seriously? This guy should be fired! Just because hes a Yankee caption doesn't mean that he needs to do everything i mean theres a need for soldiers in Iraq, so should he go over there? I'm done talking about it this is just making me mad talking about it and i don't know why i even am writing a post about it? It doesn't even deserve the space.

oh jose

Oh Jose Jose.....

I have had discussions with people down at Perfect Game about his book and they all say the same thing. It is for sure some juicy reading but his writing just flat out sucks. I know I will never win a Pulitzer prize in my life but still i could've done a better job. It's almost painful to read this. He contradicts himself every other paragraph. He goes on saying oh I was always the smallest kind on the team and I was never good at all but, I was my teams MVP. I just was not good in High School but, I got drafted by the A's....I was a timid shy not very coordinated rookie but i still made the All-Star team! Come on now we all know you have the biggest ego on the face of this earth! maybe that a little extreme but pretty close. I don't know if i can take reading much more. But I am determined to finish it no matter how painful the writing is.

New name

I decided to change the title of my blog for a couple reasons. Touchdown Jesus refers to college football and that is long gone. I am already getting pumped for spring training baseball to start. And ever since 10u I have been in love with Derek Jeter and my mom would always call me sweeter than Jeter and its just stuck ever since. Derek Jeter has always been my favorite baseball player year in and year out, so i thought it was only right to pay my dues.

A-Fraud vs. A-rod

A-rod has seen his ups and downs in the big apple. I don't know how i feel about him yet and its been a couple years even. My biggest problem with him is that when you get paid that much you need to come through. In the regular season he puts up outrageous stats wins MVP awards, but when it comes to October he always finds away to choke. He wonders why he got moved over to third and Jeter got to stay at short....I know that A-rod has more natural talent then Jeter and it hurts me to say it but its the truth. The thing about Jeter is he is consistent. He always has and he always will. When he gets the nickname as Mr. October he must be doing something right. Which that name is fitting for him since that's what was his idol Reggie Jackson's nickname. I don't know if it hasn't hit A-rod yet, but before New Yorkers accept you, you gotta come through in October when it matters. Yes, he helps us get there which is helpful, but when you hit .350 in the regular season and then in the postseason you hit .117 that's not going to help your popularity.

As most of you have probably heard Joe Torres new book The Yankee Years he talks about how bench coach Larry Bowa would say everyday so whats it going to be today A-rod or A-Fraud? I think that's really hilarious but at the same time i feel bad for Alex. The mega contract he has is kind of setting himself up for failure. But i think the A-fraud is quite clever because sometimes it does feel like he is a fraud for how poorly he preforms in the postseason, so its like hes robing the Yankees front office of money. I do feel bad for the kid though. I have been to post season games and regular season games and its tough to see him get booed. As much as people think us Yankee fans are fair weather fans, we really aren't. We are just passionate and we except our players to preform well. I will admit that i have thrown just at the TV at home during the postseason when he has failed to preform to his level but i have never once gave up on him. It's just not acceptable with me when he does because when i do get to the point where i throw things i get sent out to the garage by myself to watch the game because my mom cant deal with me when it get like that she said.

So one word of advice for you A-rod lets make the 2009 a good season the WHOLE season not just the month of April and July..you don't want the press to start calling you A-fraud do you?

Torre playing it dumb?

What is with all these baseball players writing books? I don't get it? But I'm not going to complain because they make for juicy reading. I believe that Joe Torre is a lot more intelligent than Jose Canseco will ever be but, I don't think he will be winning a Pulitzer prize for this book anytime soon. Last Friday night I was lucky enough to catch Torre's Larry King Live interview. It was neat how they had it set up. They had CNN cameras at a bar in LA where Joe is coaching now and cameras set up in NY where he previously coached. The interview consists from life in NY to LA, the bridges he burnt in NY, the relationships he still has in NY, the Yankee years highs and lows, and the juicy details of his over priced star athletes. I'm not a big fan of reading but this book I will definitely be going out to get right away. Yes, if you can't tell by now I am a die hard Yankee fan. Spring Training every year, at least 2 Yankee games a year at Yankee Stadium, and I've been to 2 World Series games. People think that because I am from Iowa I am just jumping on the ban waggon. That is not the case I have like the Yankees since I was 5. My dad lives out there and he has always been a Yankee fan so i guess you can say it goes hand in hand.

I find that Torres book will be very interesting. I'm most intrigued by his remarks about A-Rod. Torre doesn't believe that this book will burn any bridges. I think he is just playing the dumb card on that one. If you say in your book that the highest paid athlete in baseball in history was a little to into Derek Jeter I don't think he is going to be making any friends in NY. I have always had great respect for Joe Torre as a Manager and as a person. I have had the privilege of meeting him before one spring training. He was a great guy very nice and willing to sign many autographs. Even though that I feel that this book was him flipin the bird to NY I wish him the best, because I do feel that he got jipped by the Yankees front office and that's a shame. I just hope he knows what he is getting himself into.
Dear Aevans,
I would like to say I'm sorry for a couple of posts back....I needed something to blog about and you gave me that comment and i just put two and two together. It was immature of me to shoot down your opinion. I mean isn't that the whole point of blogs to get your opinion out?

I hope you can accept my apology

Sincerely,
me

Ps. When I was hitting at perfect game last night I met this perfectly straight guy who said He would date Brady Quinn and Derek Jeter :) that made my night.

Juiced

Who ever thought Jose Canseco could write a book that was a #1 New York Times Bestseller? I would have thought there would have been a better chance of Barry Bonds becoming the Pope before that happened. Well i just saw a pig fly outside the window. Yes the day has came. Since the book has came out I've wanted to read it but Ive never got around to it until now for a AP assignment. Jose is a very interesting human being. I have got the privilege of meeting him before. It was a experience all right. On the cover of the book it says wild times, rampant roids, smash hits, and how baseball got big. If i had to describe Jose Canseco's state of being i would say he is a couple fries short of a happy meal. On the first page in condones the use for steroid's for athletes even young athletes. He just made it clear that they are serious thing and if you are not old enough to shave stay away from them. I know a kid in 7th grade that shaves! What kind of advice is that? I feel that this book is a big ego trip for him. His whole life is one big ego trip. He has a little girl he talks about and her name is Josie!!! Yes she is a girl but naming her Josie? I'm surprised he didn't just pull a George Forman and name her Jose! I'm glad he tried to make it a little settle at least. If you looked at the book and no idea who he was you could tell that he is a little into himself. My favorite quote in the book is "Steroids don't just make you stronger they make you sexier." yes he did say that try not to throw up in your mouth. I have a feeling that he didn't make a lot of friends with this book and probably lost some as well. Hey Jose you can kiss your bid into Canton goodbye. I have a feeling you wont be on the first ballot next Hall of Fame ballot. But thank you for the book I'm going to get one good paper out of it :)

Super Sunday= National Eating Holiday

Even though College Football is where my true passion lies, I do suck it up, and watch over paid athletes who could give a damn a good portion of the time play football on Sundays. Yes, you have your Kurt Warner's who appreciate the game for what its worth, but a good portion are just airheads that can't do anything else because they left college early and when they where in college they took ball room dancing. The only pro sport i get into is baseball because college baseball isn't very popular. This past Super Sunday I was pretty indifferent towards the match up. I mean come on the Cardinals and Steelers? Not the game I was hoping for. The only thing that made me actually turn it on was knowing this could be Cedar Rapids born Kurt Warner's last game. Earlier yesterday my mom and i where at the grocery store and shes made the comment that she thinks I but Super Sunday up there with my birthday and Christmas. I just laughed it off saying i put today before my birthday which is true. I love food. Besides playing sports eating is my favorite thing to do. And Super Bowl Sunday you get the best food. I think i had about 5 different courses last night and I don't feel guilty. I might today when I'm down in the weight room, but it was worth it. I just hope next year the games a little more interesting..good football and food can never go wrong with that :)

When to call it quits?

The Texas girls basketball coach, that coached his High School team to a 100-0 point victory was fired on Sunday. When i read this article in the paper I didn't know what to think at first. I didn't know if i should give the coach and his team credit because a 100 point win is a rare thing in high school basketball. As i kept reading the article i was appalled to find out that the team they beat by yes 100 points was a school for kids with problems such as reading disabilities and what not. I think that is just tacky that the coach thought it was funny that his team of fantastic athletes where able to beat a team with six girls on it by 100 points! Come on now! Where are your morals not just as a coach but as a decent human being? The next day he then made a national apology to the school. I don't know why he thought that would make it go away? What coach when up 72-0 still puts on the full court press and shots three's like its not big deal? If i was a player on his team I personally would've said something. Those players are just as at much fault as the coach. The players should be just as embarrassed. And for their parents to condone it and being proud of them? That just makes me sick. What is this world coming to seriously. I tip my hat to the losing team though. Sources say that they took the loss and didn't get down on themselves or anything, that's real sportsmanship right there. I don't think the apology was enough and him forfeiting the game after the fact. I think it was a smart move on behalf of the school board to fire him. I have played for a coach who has the most wins in high school softball in the nation before and when we where up by ten runs he would make us pull back and put in other people so it wouldn't get too out of hand. And him having the most wins in the nation for a softball coach i think he takes winning seriously but he would never allow us to beat a team 20-0.

Coached to Death?

How far is too far? A coach from LOUISVILLE, Ky. was recently charged with recklice homicide after the death of one of his football players. During a football practice Sophomore Max Gilpin and his teammates where participating a conditioning drill he scoarching temps. This isn't the first time a athlete has been pushed to death by rigorous drills. I don't know when coaches are going to get the hint. When it is that hot out, you need to give your players regular water breaks and just give them a breather. I know how horrible practices can be in the heat. When i was at another school we would have four hour practices in 90 degree heat and we would rarely get water breaks. The only time we would get water was when we weren't apart of a drill and he would have to hurry or we would get in trouble. It would get so bad where we would have to wear cut off shirts all the way down to the bottom of the shirts so if there would happen to be a little breeze we would be able to feel it good. I guess we had it pretty good though because we had our own locker room down at the field and i don't know a whole lot of high school programs that have their own locker rooms let alone with air conditioning, but it would almost give you the chills after being in 90 degree temps while sweating profoundly then go into a air conditioned room.

It is just kind of depressing to know that this coach pushed this sophomore to his death. He should've saw that his players where struggling with the heat and the drill and realized that it wasn't worth it that day. I could relate to Max in some way. I mean I'm not dead but i have experienced a heat stroke before and it is scary. When i experienced it, it was 95 degrees out and humid. It was my Sophomore season and I was in a good mood so i offered to pitch the JV game because, all the JV pitchers where hurt and i have pitched 2 games in one day so i pitched the JV game then I played Shortstop the first varsity game then I had to pitch the second varsity game i was feeling fine in between the 2 varsity games but my mom thought i looked really sick and forced me to eat something even though i wasn't hungry, you could say i became kind of resentful towards her because i didn't wanna eat in that heat because i knew i could vomit. So we mad a deal she game me a protein bar and a filled up my huge water jug and gave me 2 Gatorade's and sent me on my way because i had to start warming up since i was pitching. In between innings i felt this chill go through my body, and i was schedule to hit that inning so i grabbed a sweatshirt and grabbed my bat because i was on deck. My coach was on the thirdbase line and when she saw me with my sweatshirt on she actually stoped the game. I was mad at her at that time in point but she mad me sit out a inning and put in someone else for me and now that i look back on it she could have saved my life. I guess i didn't look to well either. At that point in 95 degree weather I had a sweatshirt on and sweatpants. My body couldn't stop shivering. I was sitting behind the dugout and i just started to cry. I don't know why? I think i was just scared. My mom came and sat by me. My coach wanted me to go to the hospital but i felt there was no need, and i didn't want to since we where 2 hours away form CR. I never ended up going back into that game.

So when i read stories like max's it really hits me deep. I know my experience isn't quite to that extent but, it still hits me deep.
I hope with his coach being charged it sends wake up calls to all the other coaches just like him.

Brawling Leprechauns?

"So, if Utah can't be a consensus number one because they don't play in a "recognized" conference, how does that affect Notre Dame, since they don't even belong to a conference at all?Does that mean that the Brawling Leprechauns will never win a National Title or be a National Number One?"

So I just came across this comment from a older post, and I would like to respond to Aevans........ STOP HATING ON NOTRE DAME! Its not there fault they have a fan base. Its not there fault they have money. Its like the New York Yankees. Everyone and their moms complain that they buy their championships. So what if they do. They have money deal with it. Steinbrenner has money he had to work hard for it. Its not like he just found the trillions of dollars in a cereal box. Everyone knows that if their team had money they wouldn't be complaining. Its just a fact of life. Money helps win championships because, you are able to buy the best players. But back to Notre Dame. There is a legacy that comes with the program so there is going to be more funding. And they're actually a BCS team. It's just life deal with it :). Utah highlights shouldn't even make the sportscenter highlights ha ha what a joke. JOIN A LEGIT CONFERENCE...then we can talk. Until then I hope you enjoyed your one trip to a BCS game because it will probably be a once in a lifetime thing.

and Aevans this is for you enjoy :)

Boos for Bohannon...

If you are semi familiar with Iowa high school basketball; I'm sure that you have head of the Bohannon's. The Bohannon's have a long line of stud basketball players in their family. Theres Zach Bohannon who is a senior this year at Linn Mar High School in Marion, Iowa. He recently committed to Air force where he will play basketball next year. Then there is Jason Bohannon. You could say that he is a legend around the metro area. I was fortunate enough to be around for his Senior season. I was a Freshman at Jefferson, when he was a Senior. I head stories and read about his remarkable unreal stats in the newspaper. It was unbelievable reading night after night about him dropping 40 points on a regular basis like its no big deal.He was also named the Gatorade player of the year in Iowa. he was a three-time Iowa Newspaper Association All-State first team selection. He led Linn-Mar to a state championship as a sophomore in 2004, a runner-up finish in 2005, and a fourth place finish in 2006. He scored 1,700 points in his three year career, snapping a 33 year-old record. He averaged 27 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 3.8 assists in his senior campaign. He was a four star recruit coming out of High School with a bright future. Schools such as; Iowa, Wisconsin, UNI, Purdue, NC State, Stanford, and Vandy where recruiting him. It was a huge blow to the Hawkeyes program when he announced his commitment to Wisconsin. Everyone thought Iowa was a great fit for him. His dad was a quarterback there, and it was close to home. He ended up getting alot of playing time his Freshman year. I remember watching some of his games on ESPN. He never started, but he was always the first person of the bench. He is a Junior now. And he is a deciding factor whenever he is on the court. Recently in the Cedar Rapids Gazette there was a article written about his upcoming return to the metro area. The title was "Boos for Bohannon in Carver Getting Old." By Jim Ecker. I thought this was a fitting title for this article, and his return to Iowa City. Iowa fans are still bitter about him not coming to Iowa. You could say the felt betrayed. In the article Jim went on saying how Iowa fans should just SHUT UP! Its getting old. Yes it was clever his Freshman season to boo the kid whenever he touched the ball, or chant traitor, but you look stupid every time you so that and then he just ends up draining back to back three's! Whats the point of even heckling him when he has been quoted before saying, "My favorite place to play on the road is Carver." I think Iowa fans just need to get over there bitter ways. I don't know Jason personally, but what I've heard about him, he seems like a decent guy. I think you should be proud that he is from the metro area and he is doing so well at the next level.

In? or Out?

Staying? Leaving? That is the hot question circulating throughout the NFL and college football sence. This passed week is when most underclassmen decided to declare for the upcoming NFL draft. When I look at it from the larger perspective I think it is going to be all in all a pretty decent draft this year. The biggest controversy is weather Mark Shancez of USC should've stayed another year. His coach Pete Carroll came out fright away saying "he is making the wrong decision. He knows hes going against the grain." I think that was wring of him to come out and say that. His player made his decision, and he cant do anything about it. I personally think this was a good decision by Mark. Why no come out after a record breaking Rose Bowl victory? Why would he want to come back next year lose to a Washington State team, go 12-1 and then diminish a team from the Big 10 in the Rose Bowl? I think he is making a smart decision by getting out. His stock is up right now. And if he comes out next year hes gong to be in the same draft as Tim Tebow, Sam Bradford (will still be a underclassman)Colt McCoy.

Another hot topic is Sam Bradford deciding to stay another year. It seems nobody get this decision either? Sam just completed his Sophomore season at a powerhouse football school. Why wouldn't he want to stay? I still look at him as a kid. Hes just soaking it all up. Yes, he could get injured but i think he is making the right decision as well.

Tebow to Return for Senior Season

Tim Tebow announced yesterday that he will indeed return for his senior season at Florida. I think this is a great move on his part. I feel even if he did declare this year for the draft, he would make a difference in the NFL; but with him returning he can prove to all his critics that he indeed will succeed at the next level as a quarterback and not a HB. I know the draft analysts must know more than me, but i just don't get see why he can't be a NFL quarterback...this is the source of many arguments i get into about him. I feel that he is a franchise quarterback for whatever team drafts him. Look at Joe Flacco that plays for the Ravens. He wasn't even a BCS bowl division quarterback. HE PLAYED AT DELAWARE!!! Come on now. Now he has led the Ravens to two straight playoff wins. He is nowhere as intelligent as Tebow is at the quarterback position and just in general. It should be interesting next year. I feel that with Tebow returning he is hungry for that third national championship, and second Heisman.

Who is Number One?

It is pretty obvious who should be number one... Superman was out last night and flying high. As Tim Tebow proved all his critics wrong and came out strong. I believe he proved last night who should've really won the Heisman. Tim Tebow just was the all around better player. Yes, he tied a season high for picks, but when his team needed a spark; he gave them it. I think he is the best leader in college football. Florida is number one and they deserve it. I don't think its fair for other teams to complain. All the coaches complain after their bowl games saying oh our team should be number one! Even though i don't agree with the BCS system all the coaches knew how it worked and they have to live with that. So to all you coaches out there cough cough Pete Carol, Mac Brown, and Whittingham yes, you guys all ended strong but you have to be perfect the whole season. Yes, Utah was but they are not in a BCS conference. How can you say you deserve the number one ranking when you struggle with New Mexico ant home? and every team you pretty much barley squeak by? So for all you people that think Utah should be number one just please shut up. Yes, I'm talking to you Jim Rome. I personally think Jim Rome is a complete idiot. I don't understand how he even has his own show. He thinks hes funny and hes really not and when he is funny once in a blue moon he has to repeat him self 23948290 times to make sure you get that it was funny. Back to Jim Rome the last three days he has been talking about how the national championship game a bust; and how the winner is just playing for third place! ARE YOU SERIOUS? He thinks Utah should be number one and USC number two. USC didn't impress me that much. Yeah, they at least a top three 5 team but, they beat a PSU team from the Big 10 that Iowa beat come on now. And I'm just not impressed with their schedule. Yes, they did have the best defense; I just wasn't impressed with there offense. But whatever the season is over :( guess i have baseball season to look forward too.

One Last Game.....

How can you not be on his side? This video was after the Ole Miss lost by one! He took that loss and but it on his back. How many QBs do you know that would do that? Tonights national championship game should be a beaut. Tebow has a chip on his shoulder from all the talk about him being good enough to be a NFL QB to the a Oklahoma CB saying that he would be the forth best quarterback in the Big 12. Florida is about to lay a beat down on the Sooners and most of America believes so as well. With 61.2% of the nation believes Florida well come out with the win. This is just the icing on the cake finding out today Percy Harvin is back 90% for this game from a high ankle sprain. Yeah its just 90 but I would take a 50% ready Percy Harvin. A ferrarhi can still beat a Honda in third gear.

Sportscenter

I really enjoyed this one beacuse, I always looked up to Roger Clemens while I was growing up.

This commerical always made me laugh. It just show how big of a game it is when Ohio State plays Michagan.

whenever i have a bad day i always watch this one :)

Kenny Mayne is my ALL TIME favorite anchor. He was the reason why I wanted to be a sports anchor :) its a shame he covers horse racing now :/

Chad Johnson = Amazing. He makes Pro football semi intresting to watch. I love his endzone dances. And i admire him for doin

Numero Uno?

Utah is currently the only unbeaten team in D1 football. The same question is flying around. Who should be number one? Is the National Championship game a bust? Is that game really just being played to see who is number 3 after the Texas win? There are many unanswered questions. I personally DON"T think that Utah is a good enough team to get that number one ranking. Yes, t hey did beat SEC powerhouse Bama but, look at the conference they're in. If they want to get taken seriously why don't they just join the PAC 10? Yes, they got a couple quality win but, they are nothing compared to what Florida in the SEC has had to face. I think that Florida is the number one team hands down. The completion they face is more difficult then any team in the Mountain West conference. The Lower tier of the SEC could compete for the Mountain West title. I think if they were in a different conference (PAC 10) and went unbeaten they wouldn't absolutely not be at home right now sitting on their couch's complains saying how we are number one. They would be in Tampa right now preparing for one of the biggest games about 90% of them will ever play. I'm just sick and tired hearing every other word on ESPN being about how Utah got jipped. THEY DIDN'T! may this be a lesson for all you non BCS bowl teams. If you think you have a legit chance to go unbeaten JOIN A RESPECTABLE CONFERENCE!
