APRIL 5 :)

April 5th could not come soon enough! April 5th is opening day for Major League Baseball!! I need to get a jump start on drafting for my fantasy team. Following baseball is my bread and buter, so be prepared to get post after post about baseball, and my fellow Yankees. Hopefully we will have a better season though....

Politics+Sports= Bad Idea

I watch Sportscenter every morning religiously. Never missing an episode I consider myself a very loyal follwer. So during March Madness I expect to see alot of coverage over it on Sportscenter. The day after the brackets came out, they did a segment with the President. Espn personally designed a larger than life bracket for him. He filled it our right in front of America. He was asked to explain his picks. So every day that there has been games on ESPN always fills us in how he is doing. It gets so Annoying sometimes. It's like who really cares? I don't! And it's just embarrassing, because he is not even at the 50% tile, and basketball was supposed to be his "thing." Politics and sports should just not mix. There should be a fine line drawn between them. And every time something big happens in sports, reporters always ask the President to comment, and you always hear his comment on Sportscenter or see it on the ticker. Please just give it a rest.

Bracket Busters

With the last day of the sweet sixteen match-ups your bracket has either been made or BUSTED. This year I personally think that the brackets where overated. You might just think that I am saying this because one might think that my bracket was bsuted by the Cleveland State's or the Sienna's. Well you are wrong. At track practice I got into a very heated argument with a fellow boy in track. He made it abundently clear that I don't know what I'm doing, and the only reason why I picked those upsets is because I either A.) got lucky. Or B.) just like the way the name sounded. This set me off!? going back to one of my very first blog posts, I get sick and tired of male's giving me crap because I am a girl. They don't think i know squat because of this. I am sorry if I make some guys inscure knowing more about sports then them. My bracket is shapping up very nicely. Yes I did have Memphis going farther, but I am still ahead in the game with the upsets I picked.

Day of the Dance

Less than five hours untill the forst game, and I find myself sitting in zero hour Ap lang filling out my bracket. I don't know why it took me so long. I just kept putting it off. This years trouney just didnt have my intrest. I'm hopping there are at least some big upsets this year. Last year there wasnt really any. Wouldn't it be funny if the 4 number 16 seeds made it to the final four. If that happend I could die happy. My final four predictions are Lousiville, Memphis, Unc, Villinova. I have UNC winning 74-70. I think UNC will make it through easily, but only if they have gaurd Ty Lawson. He needs to be back for the second round, because LSU has the athletisism to beat them without him. This morning on sportscenter he made a statement say that it doesnt hurt running back and foward. The only time he feels pain is when he cuts. Ty Lawson is a very energetic player. When hes on the court hes always all over it. Cutting is a big part of his game and he needs to be able to do that. I hope my bracket isnt a complete bust, I sometimes tend to talk alot of smack about my bracket especially with my neighbor, who thinks he knows everything about college basketball, but he doesnt.

The Big Dance

It is time to go dancing for 64 college basketball teams. Some I must say shouldn't be dancing, but that is besides the point. Last night the Men's NCAA D1 college basketball brackets where reveled. You could say there was some surprises. Like 10 seeded Arizona, and personally for me the Wisconsin Badgers. Don't get me wrong I am glad that they made it, but I think Penn State deserved a bid over them. I was very surprised with the showing the Big 10 had. All year everyone just bashed the Big 10. I am not as excited tho about the dance this year. I still have yet to fill out my bracket; which is usually done with in the first hour it was realised. I just think it will be a boring tourney this year. I don't know if I see any big upsets happening. As I scan through the bracket I can't put my finger on any George Mason teams, and since college basketball isn't really my favorite to watch; without the George Mason's of the tourney the appeal factor is way down this year for me. I am thinking about just randoming filling out my bracket. I wont stoop so low where I go with what name I like better, like some females do that I know.

The Evil Empire

Why are the Yankees labeled the bad guys year after year. Even though they havent won a championship since 2000. When they win I can see why they are labeled the "evil empire" The Yankees front office knows what it feels like to be on top and they like that feeling, and they'll do whatever it takes to get back there. Even if that means spending unruley amounts of money. They're not trying to make friends. They're getting paid that much money to win championships; and the boss expects nothing less. I guess the name is kind of humerous seeing where it came from. The name first came about when the Yankees where in there prime years, and the Red Sox's where always living in the shadows of them. The Red Sox's where just jealous that they didnt have the savvy educated tough front office like the Yankees had. Even though the Red Sox's have won 2 World Series since the Yankees have won one. Whos counting? I mean its still....

Yankess:26
Red Sox's:4

You got a long way to go Boston

Whats Going On?

Here's a quick look at whats going around sports....

NCAA BASKETBALL:
If you are a college basketball fanatic this is most likely your favorite time of the year! Yes, it is March, which means March Madness :) Make sure your pencils have good erasers, or just maybe print out a couple extra brackets. I know it usually takes me a good 5 brackets until i find my prefect one.

NFL:
TJ Houshmandzadeh is heading west. Everybody already knew he was out of Cincinnati. But really Seattle? I think he will fit in with the whole West Coast offense. He is a threat when he is on the Field. I feel that in Cincinnati he was just always over looked having to share the ball with Ocho Cinco and his true potential was never shown. Another shocker to me was the news of Matt Casel being traded to the Chiefs. Yes, that is good for him, but I think that was a stupid move by the Patriots front office. I don't completely understand that move. This off season they where in the talks of giving him the franchise tag even as a backup quarterback. I know that Tom Brady will be back healthy; but they never know? Coming back from a knee injury can be a very tricky thing. I'm sure that nobody in the Patriots front office thought Brady would have a season ending injury the first game of the season. I think they let Matt get away and that's too bad. I could care less though,
because I hate every team from the Massachusetts area. And oh yeah they draft is upon us as well :))

MLB:
The WBC is starting up. You could say that this is good for all us baseball fans since they televise this. Its like the equivalent to baseball preseason.

I will spare everyone of the A-rod talk because we have already heard enough of that.

ESPN.com recently broke the news that Orlando Cabrera is headed to the Oakland A's. This doesn't surprise me since Bobby Crosby wanted out, and it appears that he is on his way out. 34 year old Cabrera brings power and speed to the top of the A's lineup. The only down fall to replacing him with Crosby is the whole age factor. Who knows maybe 35 is the new 25 in major league baseball.

This news made me smile. Ken Griffey Jr. is going back to where it all started for him. He will be returning to Seattle. I've always enjoyed watching Griffey. Even though he is 39 he still got a decent deal with incentives. I don't know if he will be there a long time since the contract is only a one year deal, but I wish him the best. If he stays healthy enough to get some time in the outfield it will be fun watching him and Ichro patrolling the outfield together.

I guess I should bring up Manny. The Dodgers and him have still not put together a contract yet. He is hoping that the WBC helps him out. I don't know why I find myself returning to Rob Neyer's blog everyday it's just painful to read. I guess you can say its like a car crash, you don't wanna look, but you got to. His most recent post was about Manny's contract situation. He states " I do like to see players get what they're "worth," and $45 million is the very upper limit of what Manny Ramirez is worth, by almost any objective measure." Like that song Hot and Cold. Manny is NOT worth that much. Yes he could hit like .800 one month but the next month he can be like oh I don't feel like playing. That is Manny for you. How do you think he got that saying that's Manny being Manny? Manny is baseball's version of Chad Johnson. Only I think Ocho Cinco is good for football. I would agree with him saying Manny deserves that much but only if he becomes less selfish, gets his butt down to spring training, and acts like a team player, and most important plays daily.

Opening day is just around the corner literally. April 5th to be exact. I might have to skip school to watch the festivities!!!! But just my luck like every opening day A-rod will go 0-5 3 strikouts and 2 booted balls. oh well...that will just be proof to Rob that Derek Jeter is where he belongs.

Just thought i would leave you this :) by far best theme song next to sportscenter. Get ready for those Web Gems!!!!!
