Iowa Football Update

The Iowa Hawkeyes are on a three game winning streak. This weekend they have a big road test in Illinois. If they win this they will have a very big advatage going into the biggest game of they year in Iowa City vs. Penn State. I personally think that Iowa has a LEGIT chance of pulling of this huge upset. Penn State gets there offensive power from their game. Thats where they get most of there points. Iowa is known for their great run defense. So this game is going to come down to who has the better passing offense. I'm very excited to watch this game. If Penn State wins this weekend which is most likely going to happen this game could be on primetime ABC tv which would be very excting seeing that the game is in Iowa City. Don't count Iowa out with their Heisman hopeful in Running Back Shonne Grenne. Im counting down the days untill kick off 8 days and counting :) If you have nothing to do on a Saturday night i would suggest watching the game, because this could be one of Iowa's recent greatest wins. I was at the Iowa Penn State game last year and it was UGLY! Everybody I went with were of course Penn State fans and they would not let it go that I was from Iowa. When I was walking throughout the campus, Penn State students would come up to me and say ohh are you a steelers fan? This kind of made me angry. But I guess there is some similarites but it just got annoying. Iowa is out for revenge though. So if you like good football this game should stay on your what too watch because, I think its going to be one everybodies upset radar.

Heisman Hopefuls

College football season is in full swing as of now. We have seen our fair share of upsets and nail biting games. As the winter months are ahead of us its time to start talking about the most prestige’s trophy in college football. The Heisman Trophy. When kids are little they dream about winning the Heisman some day, they practice their acceptance speech in front of the mirror, when they think nobody is watching. Last year the great Tim Tebow from the University of Florida won the trophy. He was well deserving of it. He worked hard, and he was just a all around good person. I think for someone to win the Heisman they should be more than just a good football player. They should get the grades, be a figure that kids in the community can look up to as a role model. Tim Tebow was all of those things. I am usually looking forward to the Heisman but this year I am just not that excited. Here are the Heisman hopefuls. http://www.sportsline.com/collegefootball/heisman

I personally think that Iowa's Shonne Greene is the Heisman dark horse. He has had the littlest to work with, but has done the most. I think if he can have a good game against Illinois and Penn State I'm sure you will be seeing him at the Heisman Presentation. This race shoudl good intresting. There has not been a guy that has really stood out to me week in and week out, but hopefully the next couple of weeks will change that.

As the Weather is changing so should your Shoes

In Iowa you experince the five seasons. Hate it or love it you have to deal with it. Being a person who loves shoes I try and embrace it as much as possible, beacuse it gives me the chance to mix up my shoe collection. For this time of year the UGG boot is a popular choice. UGGS have really evoled it the last year or so. It has went from just plan old brown and black boots to different patteren ones to sandels, and even slippers. I have a pair of UGG mocks and they're my favorite shoes. They go with everything and they fit well on my feet and they keep my feet very warm. There are also knock of UGGS that alot of people purchase. UGGS are not the only shoe that is very popular for the winter months. Mocks are very popular as well. They are very winter esc. Some pople aren't that big of a fan of them because, they say they remind them of pocahontas shoes, but I don't care. Then there your plain swade boots thats good for the winter, but you must make sure that you have them protected so slush and snow and what not don't ruin them. My biggest pet peeve is when people where flip flops is the winter!!!!! I love winter shoes so why shoulp people where summer shoes when its winter?!?!? Come one people we live in Iowa :((( hate it or love it you have to deal with it and accept it. So how can people be so stupid and wear flip flops when its freezing? As much as we wish we lived in flordia we don't! So if you are a shoe lover like me embrace the cold weather and use it as a chance to expand your schoe collection :)

Penn State

I guess I was wrong last weekend. I'm a big believer in the upset but, there was no upset in Happy Valley. I still do not believe that Penn State is a national championship team. Time will only tell. I can already see whats going to happen. There going to get the short end of the stick by a SEC team and where going to have to ear about how its so un fair and how the BCS system stinks.

These are the current BCS rankings

YAY my first shoe post. College football has gave me so much to blog about, I haven't got the chance to do a shoe post. And since my blog is named Manolo Blanik I thought I would deticate my first post to that shoe. I first found out about these shoes from my favorite TV show Sex and the City. Of course these shoes are way out of my price range but it never hurts to look :)

Penn State National Title Run about to Go Up in Flames?

Number 3 ranked Penn State has a very big match up today in Happy Valley. On paper it doesn't appear to be that big of a match up, but every single Penn State player, coach, and fan knows that this is a make or break game. The last nine seasons the Nittney Lions have not been able to beat the Michigan Wolverines. I think that this season will be different though; Penn State is undefeated this season with impressive victories over an Oregon State team that upset previous number one ranked USC, A 40 point victory over Wisconsin at Wisconsin, and a convincing win over a decent Illinois team. I am still undecided on who will win this game. Penn State is favored by 24.5 points which makes it seem on paper that this game will be over before Michigan even arrives to Beaver Stadium. This is one of the games that im looking forward to the most today, on a day where there is going to be tons of great games to watch. Don't get me wrong I support the Big Ten but if Penn State can not win this game will the every be a national power house again? If they lose today there is no chance that they will contend for a National Championship. For a Big Ten school to make it to the BCS Championship they have to go undefeated. What looks better a one loss team from the SEC, PAC 10, or Big Ten? The Big 10 is down this year more than ever. Michigan who has always been a conference power house is in a rebuilding season with a new head coach. Ohio State, who already has one loss, and then Illinois who was suppose to be a sleeper team has already faded away but is expected to make a New Years Day Bowl. Even if Penn State makes it to the BCS Championship game I personally think it will be a blow out. Is good as some people think that Penn State is I don't think that they can compete with Texas, OU, Florida, USC, or Bama. I think a BSC Bowl is possible but no National Championship for Penn State.

The Legacy of Notre Dame Football in Jeopardy?

Notre Dame Football program could always be counted on to be a strong power house in college football. The last two years have been a different story. After the 2006 season they lost many key seniors on their defense and offense, including key member of the team, quarterback Brady Quinn. Who was up for the Hesiman Trophy his senior season. Everyone thought Notre Dame would have no trouble recruiting being the power house that they are. After Quinn left they landed the top quarterback recruit coming out of High School from Southern California. People speculated on how good he really was. The question came up many times; if he is that good why doesn't he just stay in Southern California and go to National power house USC? Jimmy Clausen was a very promising young athlete on paper. All the coaches where very impressed with his knowledge of the game, so they gave him a full ride to come to South Bend Indiana. Clausens Freshman season had more lows than highs. He was expected to come right out of high school and lead this storied program to a common 9 win season they have almost every year, while keeping up with the rigorous academic requirements. They had a pretty easy year ahead of them, but with losing the whole offense and defense they had a tough roads ahead trying to mix and match different people and mesh them together to for a solid football team. I remember that year very vividly. All the College Football Analysts didn’t give them a change, which they didn't have one really. They would always say that the only way they have a chance of winning is if the team actually didn’t show up to the stadium. That year they went 4-7 and failed to make a Bowl game in the first time in years!!!!!! This year is different. They year before freshman, now have a season under their belt and are out for revenge. They are 4-2 with the only 2 loses coming at the hands on now ranked opponents MSU and North Carolina. I personally think this team is hungrier than ever. This is this first time in 20 years that they are 4-2 and not nationally ranked. I expect to see many good things from this Notre Dame team as they evolve into mature true college athletes from timid High School athletes. I also could see them making a legit bowl this season. They just need to trust the coaches that they are surrounded by and keep working hard and in one or two seasons I can see them being at very high ranked.

Where did the Hawkeyes Go?

What happened to the Iowa Hawkeye’s? They had a promising season ahead of them. They had an easy start to their schedule. They started the season off 3-0!! And they have lost three games since to unranked opponents Pitt, Northwestern, and Michigan State. If they could've converted on forth and one they would've beast MSU. All they had to do was get one yard! Greene Iowa’s go to running back was then stopped at the line of scrimmage. I was too nervous to watch that play so I changed the channel. When I returned to ESPN 2 I knew it wasn’t good news when I see the MSU fans celebrating :( It is a sad week for Iowa Hawkeye football fans. We can still make it to a bowl game but it will probably be the Emerald City bowl or something not even that great. We still have some pretty tough tests a head though.

As a consirend hawkeye fan I hope they can figure it out fast including the QB conteversty which I think is just hurting the whole team. A team needs a leader not just a QB by commite! Kirk please just pick one!!!!!!!!!

collge football gets weirder

College football has always had its upsets every year, but this past week was weird. 4 of the top 5 teams in the nation lost! The biggest upset was number one ranked USC failling to unranked Oregon State. I had a bet on that a game. I picked that upset. Everybody thought i was crazy i got so much crap the whole week. Nobody though i had a clue about college football! Yeah right i guess they know now. It just make me mad that people think that i know nothing about college football because I'm a girl.http://blog.oregonlive.com/sportsupdates/2007/11/Oregon%20State%20gets%20a%20win.JPG
